My first support group meeting

My dad and I attended our first support group for caregivers. Dawn (my sister) has been trying to get us to attend for months now. She is an LPN at a nursing home in Toledo. I’m so glad we attended and wish we would have a long time ago.

It was great to hear from others that have gone through the same thing or going through the same thing that we are going through. I learned so much from everyone in the group. I have so many books to read, meetings to attend; I will be a better caregiver now for my mom and dad.

Both of my sisters have always been available and do so much to help my parents out. They are always there for my parents and me. I could not ask for a better family.

My sister Debi flew up this weekend to visit and spend some time with mom and dad. It was great for my parents to see her and spend time with her. It also gave me an opportunity to get out for a little while and not worry about my parents. I need to start doing this more often.

Wish you strength and may you give and receive plenty of support in the journey ahead. My mom has early Alzheimer’s and blogging helps me de-stress and clarify my thoughts and memories.

    • Thanks for following my new blog on Alzheimer’s and being a caregiver. Imm glad you reached out and led me to yours. I hope we can all learn from each other and support each other through good times and bad times.
